This is a fun, clean rom-com about opposites attracting… an internet influencer gets “cancelled,” and her park ranger uncle invites her to try to rebuild her career while at the same time building the social media accounts for the park, in order to try to boost its funding. While there, she falls for a park ranger, who makes it clear from their every interaction that he judges her for her flashy high-end attire and constant selfies.
This is the first time I’ve ever read a book in which the main character is an influencer–they’re usually the shallow peripheral characters. This one really tries to make you feel for her, understand her back story and sympathize with the compromises she made along the way to get where she was. Everyone has a back story, and this one paints an eminently hatable stereotype in a more sympathetic light.
