None of these principles were especially new to me (I’ve read a LOT of self-help books over the years, and I just happen to be blessed with a personality that does a lot of these things naturally, without knowing what to call them). But what works for me doesn’t necessarily work for others, and my day job (naturopathic medicine) in part involves motivating others to make changes necessary for health, or stress relief, or other kinds of problem-solving. Having the language to describe the process of habit change is therefore quite helpful, since “just do it!” is rarely effective for someone whose patterns are different from mine. I’ll certainly recommend his techniques, and this book, to patients!
