A few weeks ago, I joined Instagram (follow me here!) at the suggestion of my marketing manager, Caitlin Bauer of Royal Social Media. I actually joined a long time ago under my real name, but I almost never posted anything… I suppose because I didn’t have the proper motivation. But Caitlin introduced me to the concept of #Bookstagram, trying to create an artistic image centering around a book or series… and I fell in love! (This is my favorite so far… and yes, that’s a full size Celtic sword. It was hanging in my British themed bathroom, beside a 2-foot knight in shining armor.)
I’m not really all that big on social media as a general rule, but I get the dopamine rush now of seeing I have new followers, new likes, etc. Finally I had to turn off the Instagram alerts on my phone or I’d never get anything done. 🙂
All of this was in preparation for Release Day of “The Eden Conspiracy”, which was this past Monday, July 18. During that time, we gave out ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) and eARCs (electronic versions) to Bookstagrammers who expressed interest, and in return, I was rewarded with some incredible, gorgeous images of my own books, some of them complete with reviews and hundreds of follower responses! (This is just one of my favorites!)
Look at these books that @authorcagray just sent me! Her book The Liberty Box is currently on sale and book 2 in the series, The Eden Conspiracy, comes out next week. In honor of the book’s release, Gray, along with @royalsocialmedia and other bookstagrammers, including myself, will be hosting a GIVEAWAY, starting Monday. So check back for the giveaway post and announcement. ✨ . I haven’t had a chance to start this series yet, but I know that @sweetbookobsession is in the middle of the first book and loving it. So head over to her feed for more updates. ✨ . Here’s a synopsis for the The Liberty Box to get you started: Kate Brandeis has it all: a famous reporter at the age of twenty-four, she’s the face of the Republic of the Americas. She has a loving fiancé and all the success she could wish for. But when she learns of the death of a long-forgotten friend, her investigations unravel her perfect memories, forcing her to face the fact that she’s been living a lie. Jackson MacNamera, trained from a young age in the art of mind control, returns to the Republic for his mother’s funeral. Within a few hours of his arrival, authorities collect Jackson and take him by force to a room ironically called The Liberty Box, where he must choose between surrendering his thoughts to the new Republic, or fleeing for his freedom. Kate, bereaved and confused, finds her way to a cave community of refugees, where Jackson seems to offer her an escape from her grief. The two forge an uneasy bond, and in the process Jackson learns that Kate has some insight which may help the hunters in their attempt to free other citizens from the tyranny of the Potentate. Against the expressed wishes of the Council, the hunters plot a series of daring raids, attempting to prove that not only is freedom possible, but that the citizens are not too far gone to desire it. But with the odds so stacked against them, can the refugees succeed in their rescue missions right under the Potentate’s nose?

If all that weren’t enough, Caitlin and I launched my very own street team! We’ve added to our private Facebook group almost daily, and after years of writing (essentially) alone, I now have a community where I can ask opinions and host discussions around my characters and writing. Already I’ve gotten some excellent ideas I never would have thought of myself. I’m so proud of the support from this bookish, international, eclectic group! (It’s still open, by the way— apply here if you’re interested in joining us!)
All the best,
