I’m so excited to be working with my marketing guru, the lovely Caitlin Bauer, on giving my brand as an author a facelift!
“The Eden Conspiracy,” sequel to “The Liberty Box” will be coming out now at the beginning of July. (Side note: if you want to be part of my street team, please let me know and I’ll send you an ARC—Advanced Reader Copy!) We’re also organizing a Bookstagram campaign for the release–which is like Instagram, except people take artsy pictures of the books they’re reading and group them with items related thematically to the story and the color scheme of the cover. Like this:
If you’re drawn to the items grouped with the book, it totally makes you want to read the book too, right? Just like any good magazine ad makes you want to buy the product so you can have that life, or look like that girl/guy… the psychology of association in marketing just fascinates me.
Anyway, as part of the launch, we’re redoing everything—my logos, my website, my newsletters. About time, too, since I’ve got two very different series now, and neither one fully represents me as an author. I love this artsy side of marketing, but I’m not technically skilled enough to make it happen on my own. So my assignment? Brainstorm my mission statement, and search Pinterest for color schemes, logos, fonts, and designs… or even just random photos that feel like “me.” (It’s like one of those personality tests I used to take all the time in high school—“If you were a font, what font would you be?” Self-indulgent, yet in this case, purposeful!) I loooove that I get an excuse to, very literally, “express myself.”
So, just because it’s fun, answer these questions about yourself–who doesn’t love a personality quiz?
- If you were a font, what font would you be?
- What color scheme best represents your personality?
- What is your personal mission statement? (Not the same as a brand mission statement, but still fun to think about.)
- If you were represented by some kind of design or pattern, what three adjectives would you use to describe that design?
I’d also like to know what your spirit animal is… ???? Excited for us to be working on this together!!!
Lol, I don’t even know what that means!
